Copy Editing

Writing may get the spotlight, but editing is where a lot of the work happens.

I’m interested in the details that make writing clearer, cleaner and easier to read. That includes grammar, punctuation, AP style, structure, flow and the small choices that help a story make sense to a reader.

As a journalism student and working reporter, I’ve come to appreciate how much strong editing shapes good reporting. A good edit can sharpen a lead, smooth out repetition, catch errors and make a story stronger without losing the writer’s voice.

This page is a place to share examples of my copy editing work, including edits focused on clarity, accuracy, style and readability.
